My husband joked, "It's always easy to find you in church. You are the chick in black." I am a Catholic Goth. You'd think that would be incongruous, but the thing is, it feels natural. But, let me explain a few things.

People have this notion that Goths are pagan or Wiccan or ultra liberal. And there are some who are like that, but Catholic Goths are visible, active, and fairly conservative religion-wise.

While some folk imagine a lot of club kids in full on pale makeup with black smudged eye make-up and thick black lipstick, looking a little like an extra from a Tim Burton movie, but we do know how to dress down, allowing us to have our Goth Aesthetic but show respect to our Faith.

What I hope with this account is to write about my becoming Catholic, my Goth Aesthetic and how the two intertwine.
